Top Nigerian musician, Enetim Alfred, popularly known as Timaya, is one of those whose entrance into the music scene was greeted with so much acceptance.

The 37-year-old, who also calls himself the Egberi papa one of Bayelsa, has released a number of albums and singles, all of which have enjoyed massive airplays and impressive sales.

A multiple award winner and notable pop star, Timaya no doubt has a penchant for luxury items, especially cars. Recently, the singer, who hails from Odi in Bayelsa State, acquired the 2014 edition of Lexus LX 570, an exotic ride with few competitors. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is over N16m.

The LX 570 continues to fly the flag as a traditional, do-it-all luxury sport utility vehicle that embodies the Lexus brand’s well-deserved reputation for outstanding build quality, coupled with its downright posh interior.

With the cleverly engineered crawl control system and the LX’s rugged construction, this deluxe SUV has the capability to take you virtually anywhere you might ever want to go. In addition, it rides with royal presence on paved roads, quietly soaking up bumps like the real SUV that it is.

Given its lofty price and utilitarian roots, the 2014 LX is certainly not for everyone. But if you like the idea of an ultra-luxurious three-row SUV with legendary skills in the dirt, the LX 570 is one of a select few vehicles that fit the bill.

The LX 570 can handle just about anything its user throws at it, whether it’s pulling a heavy trailer, climbing a remote mountainside trail or just looking pretty at the country club’s dry-clean stand.

Performance

The LX 570 boasts a 5.7-litre V8 engine that produces 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. Its Standard option package has a six-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, which includes hill-start assist, crawl control and a driver-selectable multi-terrain system. If properly equipped, the LX will tow up to 3,175kg.

In Edmunds performance tests, the LX went from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.4 seconds, which is an adequate time for such a large luxury SUV. Its fuel economy was given as 12 miles per gallon in the city, 17mpg on the highway and 14mpg in combined driving.

Features

The 2014 Lexus LX 570 comfortably accommodates eight passengers in three rows. It has a long list of standard features, including automatic xenon headlights, power-folding heated auto-dimming outside mirrors, running boards for easy entry, keyless entry and ignition and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the LX comes with four-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated power front seats, driver seat memory functions, a power-folding third-row seat and a 120-volt household-style power outlet.

Its electronics are organised around an eight-inch touch screen interface, including a rear-view camera, a navigation system and voice controls. It also has Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, satellite radio, an iPod/USB audio interface and a nine-speaker audio system with a CD changer that can put some home audio systems to shame.

The Luxury option package adds heated steering wheel, a cooled storage bin, front and rear parking sensors, front- and side-view parking cameras, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system and a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system.
