A group, True Abians For Development Initiative, has disclaimed Ambassador Empire Kanu as the Director-General of Abia Rejoice Team.
The group insisted that Kanu has since been relieved of his duty as the campaign Director- General of Abia Rejoice Team.
In a statement signed yesterday by its National Leader, Demian Igbokwe, the group noted that the Abia Rejoice Team, which was the vehicle for the governorship campaign of Dr. Uche Ogah, parted ways with Kanu in January.
Igbokwe said: “We wish to let the Abia people know that our attention has been drawn to the impersonation of Ambassador Empire Kanu as the Abia Rejoice Director General.
“Ambassador Empire Kanu was relieved of his duty as the campaign Director General of Abia Rejoice Team being the vehicle for the campaign of Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah on January 24 after he went to the Abia PDP rally to make the speech the entire Abia Rejoice Team deemed as a sell out and betrayal of their principal, Dr. Uche Ogah.”
The group, however, warned members of the public especially Abians against dealing with Kanu on matters that relates to Abia Rejoice Team, saying that any of such deals amount to nullity.
“We are aware that he still parades himself as the DG of our campaign team and we are using this medium to ask him to stop before this gets out of hand. “We respect his age and his experiences in the diplomatic field and we do not wish to join issues with a septuagenarian, but also will not take more of his affront,” the group said.
The group added: “We are aware that he hosted Okezie Ikpeazu in his Ofeme home on Saturday February 28 and it was done in the guise of the DG Abia Rejoice.
“We are asking Ambas-sador Empire Kanu to hold such political meetings as Ambassador Empire Kanu and not in the capacity of the Director General of Abia Rejoice. “Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has not pledged his support to any candidate other than Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential re-election bid and soon, he will address True Abians on the state of matters. Be expectant, for Abia Must Rejoice.”
