Reports emerging from a credible source in the office of the National Security Adviser to President Jonathan, Sambo Dasuki has confirmed that there is indeed a “well designed and systematic strategy to stop Gen. Buhari from running and winning the election”
. “PDP and the Presidency are now very desperate and they are taking their moves too far. I am afraid.” He pointed out that as part of the plans, N3B (3 Billion Naira) was made available through the office of NSA to Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, using Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN as vehicle to reach out to the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (ICC), Hague, especially the Chief Prosecutor (usually called the Prosecutor) for the purpose of framing up Gen. Buhari with the charge of sponsoring Boko Haram and crime against humanity.
The source added that $1,000,000 (One Million Dollars) has already been deployed to the Chief Prosecutor of ICC through TAN as mandate and logistics for the arrest of Gen. Buhari, who the source added was supposed to be arrested while he was on diaspora tour in London, United Kingdom. He said “the arrangement was for the ICC to arrest Gen. Buhari in London, but God was with Buhari so the bubble boosted when two of the Prosecutors appointed to review the petitions declined to be involved in any shady plot and therefore threatened that they would withdraw from the case and resign from ICC if Gen. Buhari was arrested without cause”
According to the source, the prosecutors in their report maintained that Gen. Buhari (quoting the report) “has not committed any crime as prescribed in the Rome Statute to warrant his arrest or trial. The comments allegedly made by Gen. Buhari do not constitute any element for the crimes alleged. It must be established that Gen. Buhari has a common project with the perpetrators of the crime, that is, the members of Boko Haram to perform certain acts such as killing or causing serious harm, with the intent to destroy or annihilate, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. The question is: what is the common project that Gen. Buhari has with the Boko Haram members? If he spoke to them as a Muslim fanatic as alleged, then the consequence would be that they should kill non-muslims; if he spoke to them as a northerner, then the consequence would be that they should kill non-northerners, if he spoke to them as a Nigerian then they should kill foreigners. The available facts are that Boko Haram is killing both Christians and Muslims; southerners and northerners; they are killing Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike. The only conclusion would be that Gen. Buhari wants the Nation wiped out; and if it were so, who does he aspire to govern. The available evidence do not support the crimes alleged against Gen. Buhari”. He added that report by the two Prosecutors seem to suggest that President Jonathan has some explanation to make. “On the contrary, it is the Government and Leadership of the Nigerian Military that needs to be quizzed on their responsibilities towards the citizens, their rules of engagement under the circumstances, as it relates to civilian protection and their role in addressing the insurgency.”
The source said that the independent report of the two prosecutors did not only halt the planned embarrassment of Gen. Buhari at London, it also induced the ICC to send a delegation to Nigeria to meet with the Federal Government. The team was in Nigeria last week and to placate the Presidency and the NSA, the ICC Leadership has resolved to do a Letter of Commendation to the President and Federal Government for their in way into the fight against Boko Haram. He added that the Independent report of the two Prosecutors seems to be causing some stir at ICC as one of the Prosecutors has strongly threatened to petition the United Nations Security Council “should the Chief Persecutor order the arrest of Gen. Buhari on account of unsubstantiated claim of his involvement with Boko Haram sect.” The source added that the Leadership of ICC is now under some quagmire on how to handle the situation; the interest of the Presidency and the NSA on one hand and the threat by the in-house prosecutors.
The source also revealed that the NSA is not happy about the development and has vowed to stop Gen. Buhari at all cost. You will recall that a week to the 14th February 2014 the NSA Darsuki announced to the world at Chatham House London that the already scheduled elections would not hold as scheduled and the election date was changed. In the same vain, Doyin Okupe, Femi Fani-Kayode both aides to Mr. President and Gov. Fayoshe of Ekiti State have all been consistent in their boost that Gen. Buhari can never be President. It is worrisome because in their boosts they have no provision for probability, which is a natural spirit that follows in contest. I strongly fear for Gen. Buhari.
