Barely 48 hours to the 20th convocation ceremony of the citadel, the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. John Obafunwa was on Monday embarrassed by the members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) alongside their junior colleagues under the aegis of Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), as he was locked out.

The crisis commenced again on Monday when aggrieved workers locked out the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Obafunwa and other Principal officers from the university premises.

The protest took another dimension when the protesting staff stoned the VC and other principal officers with Sachet water continuously forcing the policemen and campus marshal to hurriedly escort him and others out of the area.

Obafunwa was forced out of office  with his principal officers because the protesting workers didn’t allow him gain entrance and that led to him been escorted out of the school premises through the iba gate of the universities.

Efforts made by LEADERSHIP to find out the cause of the problem from the Public Relations officer of the school proved abortive.

It was gathered that the university was in top preparation for her now annual convocation ceremony when pandemonium struck with workers chanting anti-Obafunwa songs. The main gates were still under lock at 7pm this evening.‎ All effort to speak with the vice chancellor also proved abortive as the time of filing this story.
