President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ado Ekiti branch, James Onuoha, has said all Ibo men and women would remain in Ekiti State to cast their votes and would not run away before the general elections.
He said this during the inauguration of new executives in Ado Ekiti, after the tenure of Sir Alexandra Ndubuisi-led executives elapsed.
Onuaha said, “I advise our people to let peace be their watchword at this time of elections. We are big stakeholders in the Nigeria project and we must succeed.
The group, however, refused to adopt candidates for the coming election, saying everyone is free to vote for his candidate of choice.
“Everyone of our people should come out en-masse and exercise their franchise, we will not tell anyone who to vote but they should vote for who their heart choose. We will not go anywhere, but exercise our franchise here in Ekiti.
“My role would be supervisory, I would be supervising the affairs of the many Ibo people in Ekiti. We are so many that, after the indigenes, the next in number are the Ndigbos. In Ado Ekiti alone, we are about 30,000.
“We always explore wherever is a virgin land for business, that is why we tend to dominate the economy wherever we found ourselves. In Ekiti State, we are in charge of trading here, and you know where there is business activities, there is bound to be conflicts, so, our role is to settle such conflicts and mediate between parties so as to resolve issues.
“We have a very cordial relationship with the natives of the state, in fact the Ewi of Ado and other traditional rulers have welcomed us into the state,” he said.
