As supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) savour the victory of Muhammadu Buhari in the March 28 presidential poll, a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Wednesday joined the jubilant throng, saying that its own adopted candidate has come out tops.
APGA had adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate hence it did not field a presidential candidate in the March 28 poll.
But at a post-election press conference at his Umuogele Ntigha country home, the factional governorship candidate of the party in Abia, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba said they were happy that Buhari has triumphed over President Jonathan.
He said that the adoption of Mr. President was the making of the APGA faction led by Chief Victor Umeh and that decision was not binding on their own faction hence their members were specifically instructed to vote for the APC presidential candidate.
Ufomba explained that the faction of APGA he belongs to strongly believed in Buhari’s capacity and commitment to tackle the three major issues of corruption, insecurity and the economy hence their decision to back him.
“We feel we need to bequeath to children unborn something they can be proud of. That’s why we are happy that we have a president-elect who can tackle the issue of corruption, security and the economy,” he said.
The factional governorship candidate said after reviewing the outcome of the just concluded National Assembly polls in Abia, it was evident that APGA was allegedly rigged out hence the results would not be accepted by the party.
