The All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of no confidence on Abia State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),  calling for a total overhaul  of the staff. The APC governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, made the appeal yesterday while addressing newsmen on the activities of the staff of Abia State INEC, alleging that they were responsible for all the electoral fraud going on in the state.

He described as inglorious the conduct of the April 11, 2015 elections in the state, adding that APC’s peaceful posture in the face of provocation was not  out of weakness, but for the belief that most wars were not fought and won by violence.

He called on INEC to differentiate between election and rigging, in a situation where two parties, the PDP and APGA engaged in ballot snatching, confiscation of the original result  sheets and other nefarious activities .

He alleged that the two parties, APGA and PDP  negated the conduct of  peaceful election and engaged in  rigging.

“What is called election is  the adherence of the APC in playing by the rules and it is on this  note that I am calling on INEC to cancel the entire Abia elections, but should  they want to declare the results of the elections, they should declare APC the winner of that election,” Nyerere said.

He said that the activities of others parties tend to ingloriously   stagnate the development of Abia state by engaging in the show of shame called rigging, ballot snatching and other electoral malpractices.

“If they claim to be on the ground, and that people are supporting them, why must they engage in ballot box snatching which is a clear manifestation of their desperation and their determination to stagnate a perfect design by INEC to conduct a credible election in Abia state. We are here as a party to state unequivocally that we will not accept any result short of that of APC being declared the winner is not acceptable to us”.

He  thanked party loyalists for conducting themselves peacefully in the face of provocation, describing as  aberration the snatching of  ballot boxes, carrying  all the INEC staff and ad-hoc staff into their vehicles and zooming off to the comfort of the homes to write results.

.”That is why I am calling on the Chairman of  INEC to look at the issues in Abia state and do one of the needful as we have rightfully demanded , outright cancellation of the election in Abia state or declare APC the winner of the election”, the APC Candidate said.

In his contribution, the Party Chairman , Hon Donatus Nwankpa said that the reason for APC’s  disciplined posture in the election  is because APC government plans to take the entire country  to greater level and has no plan to cause any form of instability .

He called on INEC to do the right thing as a matter of urgency to save themselves from their declining image. END
