The Acting National Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) Mrs.Amina Zakari has ordered men of the Nigerian Police Force posted at the Commisions headquarters To Teargas the Candidates of the All Progressive Congress(APC) who participated in the March 28th and April 11th Elections in Rivers State.
One of the Protesters and a State Assembly candidate in Rivers State who confided to PUO REPORTS over the Phone said the Protest became necessary Folowing the refusal of INEC to allow the inspection of materials used for the conduct of the elections. despite several court orders from different panels ordering the commission to comply.
PUO REPORTS learnt that About 30 letters from different counsels for the petitioners at the Rivers state Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja have been sent to INEC on the need to obey the constitutional provision that mandates INEC to release materials used for the election, yet, the Independent body has refused to bulge.
Efforts by the protesting APC candidates to be addressed by the INEC Acting Chairperson Mrs.Amina Zakari was melted with three tear gas cannisters by the Policemen at the INEC headquarters,who said they were acting on the instruction of the Acting Chairperson
