Are the PDPs so starved of good news that they’ve started celebrating defeat packaged to them as victory? When I got the outcome of Wednesday’s tribunal case, I just read it to a friend who was with me at the time, we looked at each other and smiled simultaneously, and said “good news”.
The APC have been getting so much victories now I’m beginning to lost count, it’s even becoming so boring now that I didn’t even bother to make a post of it. It is, however, embarrassing and disgraceful to hear that the PDP were celebrating their own defeat yesterday. Are things now that bad, or is it that they don’t understand when a verdict has gone against them or what? Is that what it means to be delusional?.
Here are the verdicts of yesterday, you check it out for yourself:…
1-0, On the petition by Wike to stop the ongoing inspection of electoral materials, the judge struck it out because he said the legal team of wike were so incompetent that they dilly-dallied on the application to the point where it was overtaken by event..
2-0, On the petition from the APC that the tribunal should direct the transfer of electoral material from PH to Abuja, the judge said inspection was already ongoing, that there was no need sending it to abuja when the order of the court is being currently obeyed. This is actually a victory in disguise for the APC because if the judge had granted the request, the PDP and INEC would’ve done everything possible to delay the transfer of the material, they even could’ve organised arm-robbers to hijack the material when in transit to abuja. So it was better that things remain the way they are now as the materials are currently being inspected under tight security and will end in a couple of days. The APC won this one too..

3-0, On the petition by the PDP that the tribunal should direct that notices to objections to a petition should be filed only at the end of the petition, the tribunal denied it, ruling that it has been overtaken by event. You know, if you file a notice to objection to a petition as the petition is ongoing, you save time, but if you do it at the end like the PDP wanted it to happen, you waste more time. The tribunal denied them their request, thereby stopping them from wasting more time..
4-0, The petition by INEC that the tribunal should strike out the reply of the APC to the response of INEC to the initial petition of the APC, the judge denied them, saying it will be entertained during the hearing of the main petition…
5-0r, The motion by Wike that the tribunal should strike out the witness statement of the APC was also denied, as the judge said he will take it during the hearing of the main petition..

All the PDP’s petition were denied, even the excusesfor long adjournment, using the upcoming bar conference and the alleged death of a brother to one of the lawyers, was also dismissed as the judge said”pre-hearing must conclude in 14 days and we have 8 days left”.
The judge specifically said he would no longer be entertaining any frivolous time-wasting petition. If you look at the whole judgement of the tribunal yesterday, it was done to prevent time-wasting. It was victory for the APC all the way.
