The National Assembly Election Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal premises in Abuja yesterday rejected the move by lawyers to Rt. Hon Otelemagba Dan Amachree to tender election documents on the grounds that the documents were not pleaded in his petition.
Amachree is Challenging the electoral victory of Sen.Osinakachwu Ideozu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) For Rivers West Senatorial District in the March 28th 2015 National Election
Recall that Rt. Hon Amachree had in his petition listed documents meant for the House of Representatives elections instead of those for the Rivers West Senatorial District elections which he contested.
It is now not clear how the petitioner would prove his case against the election of Senator Osinakachukwu Ideozu having made this very costly mistake. It must be noted that election petitions unlike other matters, should by their very nature be meticulously prepared and diligently reviewed before filing because of the very many technicalities involved.
