Forthcoming rerun governorship election in Akwa Ibom State could end in bloodbath if security is not beefed up across the state, considering the recent crucial meeting allegedly convened by Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to strategize on how to rig himself into power.
The meeting which was reportedly held in Udom’s Lagos residence immediately after the federation cup, allegedly had in attendance the former governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, ALGON Chairman, Isantim Kenneth Okon, Hon. Nse Essien, Hon. Nse Ntuen and others.
According to our informant, an aide of the former governor, who was present at the meeting, Udom was very remorseful as he pleaded with his predecessor to forgive him for going against their agreement, seeking understanding that economy was to blame for not remitting as promised.
“Udom denied all allegations leveled against him of working against the interest of his great teacher. He said the stories were lies meant to cause disaffection between them and reminded the former governor thathe was once blackmailed”.
Udom, it was gathered, confessed to the gathering that the party cannot win rerun governorship election if it were to be free and fair and pleaded with participants to draw up modalities to help the party governorship by all means.
He pledged to support any plan that will ensure he retains the governorship seat, even if it meant through violence.
According to our informant, Senator Akpabio also expressed the concern by his stooge pointed out that people are very angry with how he (Udom) handled leadership. He said that with the insistence of INEC to use voters card reader for the rerun and considering the outcome of Kogi election, it was important to plan for eventualities. He noted that for the sake of the party, it was vital to ensure that the governorship seat is retained through nook or crook.
After several stakeholders had made presentations, it was allegedly decided that cult groups across the state, which Udom had relegated to the background after his temporary emergence, were to be reactivated and mobilized to begin preparation to cause mayhem and intimidate voters ahead of the rerun governorship election.
It was alleged that those to coordinate this killer squads include Prince Ukpong Akpabio and Hon. Nse Ntuen for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Hon. Nse Essien alias Indo for Eket Senatorial District while ALGON Chairman, Isantim Kenneth Okon was allegedly picked to coordinate Uyo Senatorial District.
They were asked to begin work immediately and report directly to the governor Udom Emmanuel.
There have been several unsuccessful attempts to get comments from those allegedly involved in this sinister plan up till the time of going to press.
