Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has donated the sum of N 5m to missionary work at the Salem Lutheran Church in Abalama community in Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Governor Wike who attended the funeral service of late Elder Joseph Riggs Iyalla, the step father of Hon. Barr. Osima Ginah, said his presence at the church was God’s design that he would be instrumental to contributing to the work of God.
“Anything that has to do with God’s work, I will not look back, because without God I will not be where I am today. I am not the most qualified but He chose me to do the things I am doing now. “
The Governor also said that because the Hon. Barr. Osima Ginah is a serving member in his administration he saw no reason why he should not support the church and the community.
Governor Wike who described the deceased as a hardworking business man, who lived a good life, said his incomplete education did not prevent top dignitaries from attending his burial.
The officiating minister, Rt. Reverend E. B. Agborubere, in his address titled: “WORK WHILE IT IS DAY” said “we should do the right thing at the time. Time and tide waits for no one. When you are alive serve God and humanity”.
Reverend Agborubere who described Wike as the first Governor of Rivers State to enter the Salem Lutheran Church in Abalama, advised him ( the Governor ) to do whatever God instructs because time is not on his side.
Earlier, in a related development, at a funeral service in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Governor Wike advised Senator George Sekibo , other family members of the late Elder Reuben Igweintibo – Offori and the Ogu community to emulate all good works and legacies of the deceased.
