OPERATIVES of the Imo State Police Command on Saturday exhumed the remains of a 63-yr-old kidnap victim, Madam Ogo Omereji, who was abducted, murdered and buried in a shallow grave by her kidnappers. The abductors were, reportedly, her nephews.
The family of the victim, who was abducted in her farm in September by the three-man kidnap gang, was said to have paid N500,000.00 to the suspected kidnappers who eventually killed the victim.
It was learnt that the kidnappers identified as Gift Emeka, Sunday Uchenna and Emma Chinedu decided to kill their victim because they suspected that she might identified them.
Addressing newsmen shortly before the body was exhumed, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of the State Command arrested one of the three suspects who confessed to have kidnapped the woman, murdered and buried her in a shallow grave in a forest in Awara, Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of the state.
The entire community was thrown into turmoil as sympathizers, who thronged the forest, to witness the exercise insisted on taking over the suspects who were already in police custody.
