| During the defection |
Prof Henry A A Ugboma, a member of the panel of Inquiry set up by Rivers State Governor Barrister Nyesom Wike to investigate the alleged sale of the state owned power plants and embezzlement of funds by the Administration of Chibuike Amaechi has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
Prof Ugboma while announcing his defection at a Rally organised by the Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area chapter of the All Progressives Congress said that the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has been overtaken by militants and that the panel set up by governor Nyesom Wike was fake aimed at tarnishing the Image of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
In his speech, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State Hon Asita O Asita assured the people of ONELGA that the APC will not buy guns for their children but rather send them to school to enable them acquire Knowledge.
Those who defected alongside Prof Ugboma includes Hon Jeff Atata who was a campaign Director of a governorship aspirant of the PDP, Ernest Amachree, Sunday Alete and others.
