Abia State Government says it has passed into law the bill establishing the state security trust fund, which will be managed or overseen by top business people and retired security officers.
The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, made this known to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, who paid a one-day working visit to the state yesterday.
The governor who handed over to Arase 20 operational cars fitted with security communication gadgets for the police said that the cars were not donated because of the rich status of the state but to boost the security operation of the police towards ensuring security of lives and property of the residents in the midst of resurgence of crime and kidnapping.
He commended the state police and other security agencies for their sustained fight against crime, pledging continued logistic support to them, while also canvassing patronage by the police of police shoes and other allied uniforms being produced by Abians at Aba.
He assured that the quality of the products compare favourably with imported ones, noting that the producers were already exposed in Turkey and other countries to understudy their production.
