A legal practitioner, Mr Kanmi Ajibola, has dragged the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, to the state High Court over alleged plan to sack about 678 staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
In a suit number HOS/46/2016, the plaintiff is seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the first defendant (Osun State Government), the second defendant (Rauf Aregbesola) and the third defendant (LAUTECH management board) either by themselves, their agents, servants and privies from sacking or suspending any staff of the institution.
In the affidavit deposed to by the plaintiff, he argued: “The governor of Osun State has acted in abuse of his office arbitrarily and prejudicially to the right of the Oyo State Government of which it has direct consequence on staff of LAUTECH.”
“The approval of the sacking of the staff had been sent to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Hospital management board for implementation upon which the same board has started working,” the affidavit read in part.
“I believe that without the intervention of the court, the defendants are likely to start rapid and accelerated implementation of the recommendation in the forensic audit by Messrs Isaac Olumuyiwa Makinde published in the Osun State of Nigeria Gazette No. 1 Vol. 26 dated 14th day of January, 2016,” it added.
