Following the failure of Chief Timipre Sylva,the Candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in December 5th Bayelsa Governorship election to defeat the PDP,the relationship between the Leader of the party in the state and its Party Chairman Chief Tiwei Timapa Orunimighe has really gone soar.
The Leadership of the party in Bayelsa State is accusing Chief Timipre Sylva of using his closeness to the Secretary to the Federal Government Mr Babachir David Lawal to divert Federal appointments meant for the party to non members of the APC in Bayelsa State.
Recall that before the September 22 2015 Botched Primaries of the All Progressive Congress in Bayelsa State,PUO REPORTS had exclusively reported that Chief Timipre Sylva promised to use the state Chairman of the party Chief Timipa Orunimighe as his running mate.
But that agreement was betrayed by Mr Sylva who after securing the controversial Bayelsa APC Ticket went for a retired School Principal as his running mate.
That particular betrayal by Sylva sparked protests in the Party Secretariat which led to the burning down of his Campaign Bill Boards.
Apart from Senator Heineken Lokpobiri who was nominated by Timipre Sylva as a Minister ,no other Federal appointment has reached the APC in Bayelsa State unlike in Rivers State where three of its Members has gotten juicy positions from the Federal Government.
There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to appoint a Bayelsa Man into Federal Parastatal which has increased the level of accusations between Tiwei and Sylva
Timipre Sylva was quoted to have said that the Bayelsa APC Chairman is not qualified to hold any Federal Position since his only political experience was a mere Local Government Chairman
‘I have told them that we had to give the new comers a sense of belonging, besides they do not have what it takes to hold a federal position like that of a minister, the only position, Tiwei has held in his entire life is an Lga Chairman, Now tell me, how do we give federal positions judging from this qualification” Sylav was quoted to have Said.
