Ahmed Idris, the accountant-general of the federation (AGF) has revealed how much President Muhammadu Buhari’s government saved from Treasury Single Account (TSA).
The AGF was speaking during an interactive session with a team of reporters led by Director News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Alhaji Sani Sulieman.
He said the amount so far gathered on the TSA platform is slightly above 2.7 trillion naira.
Idris further noted that these monies belong to Federal government ministries, department and agencies, and meant for their operations and not for sharing or for any other purposes.
According to him, the TSA has helped the administration to have a firm and full control of its resources, blocking leakages, assisting it to reduce the cost of borrowing and to monitor spending in the MDAs.
The AGF further asked all organizations who have any challenges on the operations of the TSA to come forward with their problems, giving the assurance that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is committed to resolving whatever problems they might have in line with best practices.
TSA is one of the financial policies being implemented to consolidate all inflows from all parastatals in Nigeria by way of deposit into Commercial Banks traceable into a single account at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The policy was aimed at reducing proliferation of bank accounts operated by MDAs and also to promote financial accountability among all organs of the administration.
