The Leadership of Imo State Youth Parliament,Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has appealed for an end to the lingering energy crisis in the Country, describing it as an unhealthy development.
This was made known to the press at Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The National Speaker; Rt Hon Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel maintained that a situation whereby all efforts of the Government to improve the living standard of the masses are being sabotaged is highly regrettable.
“In other States, Filling Stations have started selling at the official price of 86 naira but in Imo State, they are still selling at a price far above the official pump price”, he added.
Adding his voice, the Deputy Speaker, YAN, Imo State Chapter, Hon Chikezie Nwadike called on all the relevant authorities to really be partners in progress with the government. “We read in Social Media where sharp practices alleged by officials of DPR are being recorded” . In one of the cases, DPR Officials visited a Filling Station to enforce selling on the official price but where bribed and they left them to continue exploitation of the masses by selling the products at a skyrocketed prices”.
Speaking further, the visibly angry Speaker, Rt Hon Godstime assured Imolites that the Youths of Imo State will nolonger fold their arms and watch the painful exploitation of the masses by any person.
Continuing, the Speaker mandated the office of the deputy Speaker to discuss with the state youth Parliament machinery towards a security meeting with the relevant bodies.
He appealed to the Petroleum products business men to desist from further escalation of the economic hardship on the State by continuous exploitation, maintaining that it’s highly unacceptable anymore by the Youths of the State .
He called on all Imo State Youths to remain focused and together because United we stand.
