Chairman, Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers, COTRAR,HRH. Mene Suanu TY Baridam has officially resigned his membership from Emmergency response committee,which is of one of the four committees set up for the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Report on oil impacted areas in Ogoniland.
Baridam who cited personal reasons for his resignation said he arrived at the decision after consultation with stakeholders and especially members of his family.
He however, promised to work with the President and the Minister for Environment towards the effective clean-up of the area.
Baridam who is the Gbenemene of Bua-bangha kingdom ,urged the people to come en mass to welcome the president and his entourage during flag-off of the clean-up on June 2.
