Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Leadership of Dr Goodluck Jonathan had handed down to Sir Emeka Offor the management of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company which has up of 18 business units covering Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi States.

Before then Sir Emeka Offor was the Chairman of Chrome Group, a company with tentacles in oil and gas services, power, logistics and telecommunications sectors, was the promoter of Interstate Electric Limited, one of the firms that bided for the 15 Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) successor companies which was privatized during former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The technical committee of the National Council on Privatization (NCP) had revealed how former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, and the Director General, Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), Benjamin Dikki, waived bid guidelines and unilaterally awarded the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (Enugu DISCO) to him,but because he was so close to the former First Lady Patience Jonathan, everything went as he wanted.

Interstate emerged the preferred bidder for the Enugu Electricity DISCO at the bids opening exercise on August 29, 2013, with Eastern Electric Company the reserve bidder.
Eastern Electric is sponsored by a consortium of investors, including Geometric Power Limited, led by the former Minister of Power, Prof Bart Nnaji.

Although Interstate Electric initially paid the 25 per cent of its bid offer price (about $12million), the balance of 75 per cent (about $95.4million) was expected to be paid on or before the August 21, 2013 deadline, failure of which it would forfeited its place to the reserve bidder in line with the stipulated guidelines spelt out in the request for proposal (RFP) document.
But the report of the technical committee of the NCP dated September 10, 2013 revealed that Interstate Electric was one of the three companies that failed to meet the August 21, 2013 deadline for the payment of the balance of 75 per cent bid prices which paved way for Sir Emeka Offor.

In 2001, after the successful execution of the 22 megawatts (MW) emergency power station in Abuja to serve a dedicated distribution network within the Federal Capital Territory, Bart Nnaji, founder of Geometric, was inspired to initiate the Aba Integrated Power Project, a distribution project with an embedded generation company.

In 2004, Geometric Power Limited signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Government to build a power plant in Aba, and a year later, in April 2005, Geometric signed the Aba concession agreement, also with the Federal Government, which gave it the right to distribute power to Aba.

The government, NEPA and APL executed a lease agreement on April 28, 2005 for the distribution of power to the ring-fenced residential and commercial consumers at Aba.

By the terms of the agreement, NEPA assigned its right to distribute electric power in the ring-fenced island of Owerrinta, Osisioma, Ogbor Hill, Factory Road, and Port Harcourt Road in Aba, and also leased its distribution facilities within the contract area.

With over $500 million investment in electricity infrastructure, Geometric Power Limited, if allowed to proceed, is guaranteeing 95 percent uninterrupted power supply in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, and its environs.

So far, the company has completed a power plant with a capacity to produce about 141MW of electricity in its first phase, built new distribution lines, four new sub-stations and rehabilitated another three previously used by the former PHCN. Each plant is to produce 47MW of power, supported by a 60MVA per transformer.

Our sources tell us that Geometric may never turn on the lights in the Aba and Ariaria business districts if the politically-influential Emeka Offor gets away with his brazen attempt to profit from keeping 2 million residents of Aba in total darkness.

Emeka Offor started plotting an evil coup against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for taken a decision favourable to Prof Barth Nnaji.

it was actually governor Ikpeazu that first approached the minister of power to help resolve the issue between two business men that made it impossible to supply steady power to Aba even when Geometrics have generated massive amount of “good to go power” to support Aba’s industrial revolution. The dispute was simply a question of “why should I the manufacturer make much less than you the distributor”. Sadly, the nature of the Governor’s intervention Sir Emeka Offor who bided his time to “show” the governor

He alongside Senator Annie Okonkwo arranged with some forces at the Presidency to remove Governor Okezie Ikpeazu according to them he was standing against the grazing reserves Bill and sponsoring a Lawyer to fight President Muhammadu Buhari in Court over his WAEC Certificate.

Justice Abang Okon who delivered the Judgement on Monday 27th June 2016 originally billed his Judegment for Friday 1st July 2016 but he was forced by this same man to give his ruling on Monday which was Why INEC hurriedly gave Certificate of Return to Dr Uche Ogah even when the Certified True Copies of the Court ruling were yet to be served to Parties.

If not the timely Intervention of the Presidency,Governor Okezie Ikpeazu by now would have been thrown out of the Abia State Government House
