Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he will never play politics with the development of the Ogoni ethnic nationality, hence he is executing critical projects in the area.
The governor stated that PDP will continue to win all elections in the State because of the performance of his administration and the goodwill the party enjoys amongst the people.
Speaking at the Rivers South-East Senatorial District PDP Rally on Thursday in Bori, Governor Wike maintained that the main opposition party in the state cannot campaign because her leaders squandered the resources of the state for eight years without executing Pro-People projects.
He said: “The Ogoni people know I am committed to their development. I have never lied to them. Whatever promise I make, I have taken steps to fulfill. This I have done despite the financial downturn.
“When they were receiving N20billion monthly, they promised to execute projects in Ogoni land, but they failed the people. Today, we are receiving about N4billion monthly and we are executing the key projects we promised the Ogoni people “.
He said those who spent four years at the National Assembly without attracting any development project to Ogoni land, should shelve their ambition as they lack what it takes to develop the area.
The governor called on INEC to take necessary steps to conduct the outstanding rerun elections in the State , saying that the endless wait is not good for development.
He charged PDP supporters to be peaceful during the electioneering process in line with the peace accord signed in Abuja, but added that all PDP supporters must remain vigilant.
The governor urged INEC to work towards credible polls and avoid a situation where the elections are manipulated to favour the opposition party.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP Candidates for Rivers South-East Senatorial District and Former Member of the House of Representatives, Mr Dum Dekor said that the district is peaceful for elections.
Former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Mr Tele Ikuru stated that the APC cannot win any elections in the district because her leaders failed to use the resources at their disposal for the development of the state.
In his remarks, Former Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus said the several inconclusive elections in the country is a form of corruption aimed at defrauding Nigerians of their resources.
