Following intense pressure from security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the Edo State governorship election by two weeks.
The INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu made the announcement on Thursday in Benin city, the state capital.
The election had earlier been scheduled for Saturday September 10, 2016.
Recall that both the Nigerian Police Force and the Department Of State Security Services had yesterday advised INEC to Postpone the Election over Security threats possed by Ex-Militants.
The Edo Governorship election will now hold on the 28th Of September 2016
