Gunmen dressed in military camouflage on Wednesday night burnt down the home of former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Chidi Julius Lloyd at Akpabu community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State.
Lloyd, who confirmed the incident in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the gunmen stormed his home riding on about 10 motorcycles and burnt down all the buildings in his compound.
The former lawmaker, who was candidate of the APC for Emohua Constituency in the March 19 rerun election in the state, said he will only confirm the attack on his country home Akpabu to allow security agencies to investigate the matter.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the attacked on the country home of the former leader of the State House of Assembly.
Omoni, who said details of the attack on buildings in the compound were still sketchy, promised to give further details on the attack in due course.
