Yenagoa – Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson is now a proud father of 15 children, as Rachael, his wife and first lady was yesterday delivered of four babies at a go.

Rachael Dickson, wife of Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, has given birth to a set of four babies, after almost 15 years in marriage.

A Government House statement yesterday in Yenagoa signed by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said that she was delivered of the quadruplet, a boy and three girls, in the United States of America (USA).

“Mother and children are doing well”, according to the press secretary.

The statement noted that the birth of the four babies from one pregnancy was “particularly good news for the family and Bayelsans because this bundle of joy is coming after many years of praying and waiting upon the Lord”.

It added that Dickson was thankful to friends, family members and the people of the state for their prayers and support, enjoining them to continually pray for the family. It was gathered that the First Lady gave birth to the four babies through Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process. Sources said that Dickson and Rachel had been for 15 years  without a child.

The governor is said to be officially married to two wives, the First Lady being the second.

With the arrival of the quadruplet, the governor is now blessed with no fewer than 15 children.

The health of the first lady had been subject of frightening rumour in the past months when she stopped appearing at public functions.

The social media was abuzz sometime in February 2016 that her health was in critical condition, much that some even speculated she may have passed on. However, one of Governor’s Dickson’s media aides rose to the occasion and quickly debunked the falsehood.

Dr Idumange John, while debunking the ‘death’ rumour, said it was “a wretched falsehood propelled by some cruel, frustrated and mindless haters who are envious of the robust support the First Lady gives to her beloved husband Governor Seriake Dickson to serve the state and humanity in general.” Idumange added that Mrs. Dickson would continue to stand by his husband to give Bayelsa State good governance.

The statement reads in part: “Worried by the piece of propaganda, we put a call through to Her Excellency this morning and spoke with her. The First Lady is healthy, energetic and full of life and wondered why political detractors and enemies of progress would want her dead. She said

it is obvious that the Almighty God will give her long life and good health to continue to serve as a pillar of support to her beloved husband Governor Seriake Dickson.

The statement wished Mrs. Dickson, and every member of the first family of Bayelsa state, “good health, long life and divine grace to continue to render selfless services to Bayelsans and humanity in general.

Governor Dickson’s joy knows no bound as the four new additions to his family came when his re-election was overwhelmingly upheld by the Appeal Court in Abuja on Thursday.
