The jihadist leader, Abubakar Shekau, has debunked rumors of his death in a new video posted online on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
The Nigerian Army, had on Sunday, August 23, 2016 made assertions that Shekau was severely injured in the shoulder due to an air raid in which several commanders of the terrorist group were killed.
The claim by The Nigerian Army was bolstered when the Boko Haram on Tuesday, Spetember 13, 2016 released a video without Shekau’s presence.
However, in a 40 minutes video released via YouTube, Abubakar Shekau said, “you have been spreading in the social media that you injured or killed me, oh tyrants i’m in a happy state, in good health and in safety”.
The abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from the remote of Chibok provoked global outrage and has brought unprecedented attention to Boko Haram and its bloody quest to create a fundamentalist state in Northern Nigeria.
The group has also pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group known as ISIL.
