Ikpeazu Awards Scholarship To Abia Best WAEC Performed Students

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has given scholarships to six Abia students who made best performance in the 2015 and 2016 WASCE results to any Nigeria University as part of Independence Day celebration.

Governor Ikpeazu announced this while speaking in an interative session with Abia students and official opening of the Ultra-modern Abia E-library to the public.
The Governor said that the E-library will serve as the centre for Education-for-employment in Abia Central, as BTC, Aba serves for Abia South and Ohafia for Abia North. He enjoined Abians to embrace it. He maintained that technical education is an enabler that will drive SMEs in Abia, disclosing his administration’s plan to build a 250 capacity fully equiped laboratory in each School across the 17 LGA of the State, to encourage skills acquisition among students.

Dr. Ikpeazu, who regreted that Nigeria is still having many challenges even at 56, called for the need to emphasize on moral and civic education in Nigerian schools, saying that it will help to fight criminality in the society.
He expressd joy that ABSU and Abia Poly have consistently maintain a leading position in law school and ICT respectively and congratulated the students, their parents and teachers on their succes.
Earlier, the E-librarian, Pearl Nkwachukwu said that the vision of the e-library, which is fully equipped with digital learning software with over 35 million e-books covering every field of study, is to provide technology resources for children to learn.
She assured that the centre wil help in driving the Governor’s ICT vision and embark on free computer training for all civil servants in the State from January, 2017.
