Edo State PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Edo state,
Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 petitioned the Edo state’s election tribunal challenging the results of the
governorship elections which had declared All Progressives Congress candidate, Godwin Obaseki as winner.

“We have studied the situation and sure that we are ready to
show to the world that the election was rigged.
We are here to seek redress for
the results which we strongly believe was rigged against us,” Ize-Iyamu told
journalists in Benin.
“And I have to do this in agreement with my party and that
is why you are seeing my chairman and other party chieftains here with me. And
of course that gave them a huge encouragement which was on display on the very
day of election when the people trooped out in large numbers to vote.
“Seeing that their mandate seems to be stolen we have to
make do with our promise of defending their vote and that is why we are here at
the tribunal today,” he added.

Obaseki won 319,483 votes to defeat Ize-Iyamu who won 253,
173 votes in the September 28 elections.
