Abia State chapter of Progressives People’s Alliance, PPA, has applauded the exit of the party’s founder and former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, describing his defection to All Progressives Congress, APC, “as a movement of a confusionist who has lost focus in his political pursuit.”

The party claimed that Orji Kalu’s defection was of no consequence to it as “the-party had already served him a sack letter for his numerous anti-party activities.”

Speaking at a briefing in Umuahia, Abia State, Chairman of the party, Chief Emeka Okafor, said the action was an afterthought to save his face, having been expelled by the party in the state.
Okafor, who was flanked by other members of his executive committee, blamed the woes of the party, including its poor outing in the last 2015 election where the party was unable to win any election, on Kalu who he alleged was involved in anti-party activities by campaigning for candidates of other political parties.

However, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has described Chief Kalu as a political asset.
Okorocha made this statement, yesterday, in Owerri through a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo.

According to the release, “Orji Kalu, as an illustrious Igbo son, is a political asset any political party would like to have in its fold.
“With men like Orji Uzor Kalu joining me in APC, we will develop Igboland under APC as the ruling party.”
