The Abia state government has declared Wednesday December 21st 2016 as work free day for workers in the state civil service.
A statement from the commissioner for Information, culture and Strategy, comrade Bonnie Iwuoha said people are free to go and cast their votes as there is no restriction of movement.
The work free day, he said, is to enable workers in the Abia state civil service who registered in their homes the opportunity to go and cast their votes.
Youths and other citizens in Abia state are therefore advised to maintain peace and tranquility within the state as they go about casting their votes for their preferred candidates for the Local Government elections.
The police and other security agencies were also advised to protect all citizens and ensure that law and order are maintained.
