The legislative arm of the Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, last Friday, elected its leadership following the issuance of proclamation by the council boss, Chief Kalu James Kalu.
Hon. Emmanuel Nwankwo emerged the Leader of the Counsellors in the 19- member legislature.
Other principal officers were elected to reflect the five clans of the council namely: Arochukwu, Isu, Ihechiowa, Abam, and Ututu.
Other principal officers were Kenneth John, Deputy Leader; Kalu Okpi Udo, Majority Leader; and Okereke Izuogu, Chief Whip.
Their election, according to the Leader, reflected the principle of equity among the five clans of the council namely: Arochukwu, Isu, Ihechiowa, Abam, and Ututu.
The leader pledged the willingness of the counsellors to work in harmony with the Chairman for rapid development of communities in the council.
He thanked the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu for his political courage to organise a successful council poll in the state after over eight years the last elected council chairmen in the state vacated office, saying that the development would fast – track development in the rural communities.
