A youths’ group under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Youth REAP, has given Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu the party’s Best Performing Governor award.
The group said the governor got the award for his administration’s infrastructural development across the state.
Ikpeazu pledged to perform better for the benefit of the state and its people.
Receiving the award, the governor said his administration embarked on massive infrastructural development to boost the state’s internal revenue generation (IGR).
He said there was no going back on the development of Abia State, especially his administration’s provision of good roads, to enhance the IGR and create the enabling opportunity to develop other parts of the state.
The governor, who was represented by the state’s PDP Secretary Ibe Nwadioha, noted that the award would spur him and encourage his administration to offer more developmental services to the people of the state.
The group’s Protem Secretary and Administrative Secretary of PDP Southsouth, Usen Udemaka, said National Youth REAP bestowed the award on Ikpeazu after assessing the infrastructural development among PDP governors.
Udemaka, who was accompanied by a national officer of the party, Alhaji Bauchi, said the unprecedented achievements recorded by Ikpeazu’s administration surpassed other PDP governors, hence their choice for the award.
The youth leader said the group was neither biased nor religious.
He said the award was based on the assessment it undertook three months ago after moving round PDP states.
