Capt. Yusuf Buba (rtd), Chairman, Economic Development sub-committee, Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative,
has said that the APC government was all about the execution of people-oriented programmes.
Buba, who represents Gombi/Hong Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, made the statement on Wednesday in Yola while speaking with newsmen.
He said that the rehabilitation of the victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East zone was another demonstration of the vision of the government.
He said the committee could not afford to fail the people of the zone due to the importance attached to the programme by the federal government.
Buba assured that the economic development sub-committee would ensure that roads and bridges vandalised by Boko Haram insurgents were rebuilt.
He said that the committee was also saddled with responsibility to built hospitals and other basic infrastructure.
“The rehabilitation programme has different sub-committees and each of these committees is working assiduously to achieve the goal of rehabilitating the people.
“We have the humanitarian sub-committee which provides relief materials, education sub-committee which is already building schools and the security sub-committee which has already achieved 80 per cent of its mandate.
“Ours is the economic development sub-committee is saddled with the responsibility of building roads and bridges as well as building hospitals and other infrastructure.
“With all these and the relevance attached to this programme by Mr President, we will not fail the people,’ Buba assured.
The legislator said he had trained 600 youths from his constituency on skills acquisition.
He added that he also awarded contracts for sinking of 264 boreholes, adding that 180 of the boreholes had been completed.
He said the projects were aimed at touching the lives of the people of his constituency.
