The National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, has said that days of impunity are over in the party, hence the emergence of Otumba Adeleke as Senator-elect for Osun West Senatorial District on Saturday.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Oladipo said the victory of the PDP’s candidate reflected the wishes of the electorate.
He commended INEC, security agencies and the electorate for ensuring peaceful conduct of the election in spite of all odds and “the power of incumbency nakedly displayed by the All Progressives Congress (APC)” in the state.
Oladipo said the result of the election showed that hope was not lost in Nigeria’s electoral system.
“The future of the country is very bright if INEC will continue to handle future elections in the country as it did in the Osun by-election,” he said.
Also, the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, in a statement by its spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said that the party’s victory was evidence of hard work and unity within the party.
The committee added that Adeleke would deliver on his campaign promises to the people.
