The Blues have enjoyed a busy summer thus far and they are now interested in securing the Portugal international from the Bundesliga giants
Chelsea are interested in signing Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich, the German club’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed.
Reports on Friday suggested that the Blues had entered the race to secure Sanches, who had appeared set to move to Milan.
Chelsea have already spent upwards of £100 million this summer, securing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco and Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma, while they have also signed goalkeeper Willy Caballero on a free transfer from Manchester City.
And Rummenigge has confirmed that Antonio Conte, the Blues manager, inquired after Sanches’ situation following his side’s 3-2 pre-season friendly defeat to Bayern earlier this week.
“There are at least 10 teams after Sanches,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Conte asked for some information about him after Tuesday’s match because he knows he can make the difference on the pitch.
“[Carlo] Ancelotti was pleased with his performance against Chelsea so we can make some reasoning on him later.”
However, Rummenigge has rubbished any suggestion that Sanches could leave Allianz Arena on a permanent deal this summer.
“Almost certainly we’ll let him leave just on loan, we still count on him.”
