Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, North West Zonal office, Kano, have arrested a Chinese man with N305,000 in N5 denomination.
He was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, en-route Dubai.
Addressing newsmen at the anti-graft North West zonal headquarters on Wednesday, the Zonal Head of Operations, Dr. Adamu Hamisu Dan Musa, said the Chinese man, Ma Yongvin, was arrested on July 25, 2017 and cannot speak English, but only his language and Arabic.
Yongvin reportedly said he planned to us the money to produce an album.
Musa said that his itineraries as shown on Yongvin’s international passports confirmed that he had only been to Nigeria twice, thereby arousing suspicion as to why the Chinese man wanted to use the naira notes for an album.
During interrogation, Musa said, Yongvin failed to offer any further useful explanation.
He said investigation into the case was ongoing, adding that the Chinese was still in their custody.
He said at the end of investigations, he would be charged to court.
