A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan, has advised his colleagues to resist attempts by Governor Ayo Fayose to use them in attacking the Senate Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Biodun Olujimi.
There is a serious war of words going on between Governor Fayose and Senator Olujimi.
Aribisogan, who is the Minority Leader of the assembly, recently defected from the PDP to the APC.
The lawmaker, who dissociated himself from alleged plan to attack the senator over her refusal to drop her 2018 governorship ambition, warned that such plan could consume the Fayose-led administration.
According to Aribisogan, who represents Ikole Constituency 1 in the state assembly, it was Senator Olujimi who saved the assembly members from “financial embarrassment in the past,” adding that she did not deserve the “bashing of the house” at the time she needed them most.
He stated this in a letter to the Speaker of the assembly, Kola Oluwawole, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, yesterday,
“I would not be part of those who would attack Olujimi to satisfy Governor Ayo Fayose and his retinue of serial betrayers,” he said.
The APC legislator also warned the speaker against mortgaging the assembly to be turned to an extension of Fayose’s office.
He noted that Nigerians were watching the alleged violation of rules and trampling on the constitution “in a bid to satisfy a demagogue.”
Aribisogan told the speaker, “I thought you will be honest to tell the world, the role Senator Olujimi, as an agent of peace and support, had played in stabilising the house in the past. I know you cannot forget in a hurry, the contributions of Mrs. Olujimi to the emergence of Fayose as governor in 2014.”
