Facts has emerged on how a Former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara who is the Pro-Chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu stopped Prof Chinyere Nwahunnaya from becoming the Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University .
PUO REPORTS has exclusively learnt that before the appointment of Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne as the Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University,Prof Chinyere Nwahunanya from the Ukwa Axis of Abia State was the top contender to the office of the Vice Chancellor Abia State University.
Prof Eleazer Uche Ikonne was a Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics of the Abia State University while Professor Chinyere Nwahunanya has been appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of ABSU During Former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu administration
A source at the Abia State Government House told PUO REPORTS on strict condition of anonymity that Senator Adolphus Wabara the current Pro Chancellor of ABSU took a slot meant for Prof Chinyere Nwahunanya in becoming the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia State University Uturu.
It was gathered that Sen. Adolphus Wabara was sent to plead with the governor for him to appoint their son Professor Chinyere Nwahunanya – A Professor of English language and literature in ABSU, on getting to the governor, Sen. Adolphus Wabara pleaded with the governor to be appointed the Pro-chancellor of ABSU, instead of pleading for his brother, his people’s opinions.
“Ukwa people sent Adolphus to plead with Ikpeazu for him to be made VC after Prof. Ogbuagu, instead of Professor Ikonne”
Although Governor Okezie Ikpeazu did not immediately grant his request,but after leading protesters from Aba South Senatorial District in January 2016 to the Osisioma Junction of the Federal Expressway linking other South East and South-South states to Aba in protest against the sack of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State by the December 31st Judgement of the Owerri Division of the Appeal Court
The governor honoured his request and appointed him the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia State University.
Before his appointment,Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had already in his own Wisdom appointed Prof Eleazer Uche Ikonne from Isiala Ngwa axis of Abia State in 2015 as the Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu.
