The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command said no fewer than 1, 500 personnel would be deployed to provide security during the Eid-El-Kabir celebration in the state.
Mr Ibrahim Idris, the state NSCDC command’s Public Relations officer, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Kano.
He said the officers would be deployed to strategic places including Eid grounds and recreational centres in the state.
Idris said the officers were expected to keep vigil at the places with a view to monitoring the activities of people around the areas.
He said some of the personnel would also be on patrol along the major streets in Kano metropolis and other major towns as part of measures to enhance security.
“We have taken necessary steps to ensure a hitch-free Eid-El-Kabir celebration,” he said.
Idris said the NSCDC personnel would work in collaboration with other sister security agencies to ensure security of lives and property during the period and beyond.
He, however, called on members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies in the state by providing timely information on suspected persons.
