Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) numbering 30 with Two Road Safety Hilux Van were seen today Friday September extorting Monies ranging from 20,000 to N5,000 from Motorists along Uzuakoli-Umuahia Road in Abia State.
The Road Safety Officials who hired the Services of Two Military Personnel with AK 47 Riffles also stationed a Mobile Court,where Commercial Drivers are charged on Phantom Charges having no of Driving with Expired Tires,No Fire Extinguisher,No Drivers Licence among others.
PUO REPORTS gathered that Soldiers aid the FRSC Officials in flaking down motorists both Commercial and Public,and order them to park their Vehicles and off the Ignition.
A Driver Mr Stanley Ukeje who was Speaking to a Corrspondents of PUO REPORTS said he was asked to Pay N20,000 for not having a Caution Sign.
“I just loaded passengers going to Alayi,Igberre,Item at our Park Uzuakoli Road in Umuahia,only to get here and stopped by this Road Safety People,after Searching my Motor,the man said i dont have caution Sign,and i have to bring N20,000 before i can be allowed to move”
Mr Stanley said some Drivers who dont want to be Searched gives the Road Safety Team between N2000 or N5,000 before they are allowed to Go.
It was gathered that some Drivers after loading passengers in Umuahia,now place a Burial Poster at the Front of their Car,to pave way for them.
At the time of filling in this Report,not fewer than 10 Cars has been Seized by the Officials of the FRSC along Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road
