The Rivers State Police Command has declared eight people wanted in connection with the killing of 14 persons in the Mgbuoshimini community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
Some gunmen on Monday had stormed a market in the community and killed some persons.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, on Wednesday said the wanted persons were as Daddy Chukwu (27), Alhaji Otums Monday (23) and Nyeson Nwodinka (19), Orji Amadi (25), David Chibula Orji (22), Veejee Orji (19), and Junior Amadi (19).
Omoni explained that investigations had revealed that they were involved in the killings.
He said, “They (suspects) are wanted by the police in connection with the murder of late Chief Minikwu Chukwu and Cletus Barigbinee.
“They are members of a notorious criminal gang responsible for several killings and other cult-related activities at Mgbuoshimini community.”
Omoni disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Zaki, had ordered two gunboats to begin a 24-hour patrol of the waterways in the area.
