Abia State house of Assembly has commenced the screening of Commissioner Nominees forwarded to the Abia State house of Assembly by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu had on the 4th of October read a letter by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu asking the house to screen list of Nominees for the post of Commissioners.
Subsequently the House Formed an adhoc committee headed by The Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Cosmos Ndukwe(PhD) to screen the Nominees and their Curriculum Vitae.
At the House Plenary the Chairman of the adhoc Committee on the Screening of Commissioner Nominees Rt Hon Cosmos Ndukwe while presenting its report to the House,said his committee found out that the Commissioner Nominees were men and women of impeccable Character.
“After painstakingly going through the details of the Nominees and petitions by members of the Public,the Adhoc Committee found out that the Commissioner Nominees were men and women of Impeccable Character”
“The Committee is urging this house to further screen the Nominees to confirm their proven track record”
The House Subsequently adopted the report in his committee of the Whole.
PUO REPORTS that 8 out of the 26 Commissioner Nominees were former Federal and State Lawmakers and inline with the Parliamentary practice the Speaker urged the House to allow them take a bow and Leave.
The Former Lawmakers are: Rt Hon Sir C.O Enweremadu,Hon Eziuche Ubani,Hon Young Onyike,Rt Hon Chinedum Elechi,Rt Hon Chidiebere Nwoke,Rt Hon Asiforo Okere,Rt Hon Uzo Azubuike and Hon.Obinna Ekekwe.
The House began the Screening of other Nominees with Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, former Commissioner for Chieftaincy whom the House Members asked to tell Abians the secret that made him excel in his last position.
Chief Ogbonnaya in his response to other sundry questions said he was able to discover particular a Local Government Worker in Abia State who is eating money as a Level 27 Staff.
“The man collectes Salary as a Level 13 Staff and also collects Salary as a Level 14Staff” He said.
Others who were screened today included Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji,Barr Uche Ihediwa,Chief Henry Ikoh and Dr John Ahunkanna.
The House subsequently adjoined further Screening to Tuesday 24th October 2017.
