Yesterday, American rapper Meek Mill was sentenced to 2 years in prison after a Philadelphia judge ruled that he violated his probation.
In a swift reaction to the sentencing, JAY-Z shared a note on Facebook saying, ‘the sentence handed down by the Judge against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer is unjust and heavy handed. We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career.”
Meek Mill was arrested in March for misdemeanor assault charges, and again in August for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Charges from both of those incidents have been dropped, but the incidents led to yesterday’s court date to review whether or not he had violated his probation.
