A former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has said that reports linking him to an alleged N4.5 billion deal with another former governor of the state, Idris Wada, as settlement for installing the latter in 2012 are false and unfounded.
Ibrahim Idris, in a statement by his spokesman Usman Okai Austin, yesterday, said it was glaring that those behind such falsehood were those afraid of the successful ward and local government congress elections conducted by the PDP.
He said they were threatened by the ongoing reconciliation within the party in Kogi State, adding that the reports were from elements working to create misunderstanding in the PDP family in the state.
The former governor said he was not unaware of series of attempts by some individuals and failed politicians in Kogi to malign and blackmail him.
“It is an attempt by some groups of compromised people and mischief makers who are bent on causing disaffection between the two Igala leaders to their political advantage and towards returning to power,” he said.
