A former Governor of Abia State and a Board of Trustees member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has disclosed that his party will not challenge the mandate given to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State by the electorate at the just concluded governorship election.
Kalu also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, who he said gave express directive to APC chieftains, law enforcement agents and INEC not to engage in any form of manipulation to rubbish the credibility of the election.
Kalu stated this yesterday while interacting with newsmen at his country home in Igbere in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
He said it was gratifying that major stakeholders of APC, including its governorship candidate, had reached out to Obiano and congratulated him.
“Anambra election: whether we like it or not, has come and gone. APC has done well; a party that recorded 0.3 per cent in the 2015 general elections and today we are competing for 38 per cent is a remarkable improvement and there is no doubt about it because it has shown President Buhari’s popularity in the South East,” he said.
He, however, invited Obiano to the APC which he said remained the most popular party in Nigeria.
