In appreciation of the profound achievements of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in the area of the transformation of Rivers State, the Anglican Diocese of Mbaise in Imo State has honoured him with her highest award.
The Anglican Bishop of Mbaise Diocese , Rt Rev Chamberlain Ogundo on Saturday conferred on Governor Wike the Diocesan Award for Outstanding Service ( DAOS) .
Bishop Ogundo said that the award to Governor Wike is the highest honour of the Diocese for commitment, dedication and positive disposition to God’s work.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha said that Governor Wike is being celebrated for his commitment to good governance and the promotion of democracy.
Ihedioha said that Governor Wike is the star of the moment who has established the right framework for the delivery of democracy dividends.
Speaking after receiving the award, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assured that he will continue to uplift the standard of projects delivery.
He assured that he will continue to support the Church because God is the strength of his administration.
The governor reiterated his call on the Church to participate in the democratic process to stop the emergence of bad leaders.
“Time has come for the Church to rise and speak out. You have been speaking secretly in the past. This is the time for you to speak out for the world to hear you.
“Participate in the electoral process of this country. If you allow bad leaders to be elected, whatever happens, you contributed to it”, Governor Wike said.
Governor Wike said the only to change the poor state of affairs in the country is for everyone, irrespective of denominations to work in unity to right the political wrongs.
The event was also used to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the creation of Anglican Diocese of Mbaise.
Highpoint of the occasion was a special prayer by the clergy for God to protect Governor Wike as he continues with his outstanding service to humanity.
