Visiting football legend, Thierry Daniel Henry, who arrived Nigeria on Sunday has been crowned ‘Igwe’.
The Arsenal football legend who arrived the country in a sport track sweater could not take long- shortly after his welcomed press meet- to change for his coronation.
The football chief who was coronated by Nigerian football fans dressed Henry in truly traditional ‘Igwe’ attire from igbo clan in Nigeria.
You would recall that Nigerian football fans often addressed the retired French professional footballer as ‘Igwe’ during his cative days in Arsenal and for his national team because he played like a royalty and with great commanding exploits to their delights.
His style of play resonates with the huge numbers of Arsenal fans in Nigeria and he was lovingly christained as Igwe. And when he scores his fans will all out ‘Igweeeee’ instead of shouting Goal! This could however not be distanced to why fans dressed the legend guest in a traditional attire from the Igbo clan.
