Abia State government will between now and next week commence the disbursement of the third tranche of the Paris loan refund for the payment of some affected session of its workforce which are not up-to-date on the payment of salaries such as some Parastatals; primary and secondary school staff and pensioners.
To narrow this gap, the government earmarked the sum of N3.4b representing 60% out of the N5.7b receipt of the Paris refund for the payment of workers salaries and emoluments while N2.3b, (representing 40%) was set aside for capital project and other areas of greater need as it concerns general governance.
By the arrangement of the labour unions who decided and apportioned the monies to where they think best, the following are the list of payment;
1. Primary school teachers – 1month -N650m
2. State pension -2months – N820m
3. LGA pension – 1month – N359m
4. HMB -2 months – N128m
5. ASUBEB HQTs -2months – N39.1m
6. SEMB – 2moths – N798m
Subventions
7. ABSU -2months – N200m
8. ABSUTH -2months – N200m
9. Abia Poly -2months – N180m
10. College of Education, Arochukwu – 2moths – N40m
11. College of health technology, Aba – 3 months – N30m
Others are;
12. ABSUTH Pension – N30.44m
13. Abia newspaper -1month – N6,266,685
Sum Total = N3.473,110,625
It is also worthy of note that Abia has cleared the salaries of all workers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies which makes up of 70% of Abia workforce for the month of December, 2017.
Meanwhile, the sensitization on the disbursement of this funds continues today as the Abia State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku, will feature on some live audience participatory radio stations today 10/1/18, to explain the distribution of the 3rd tranche of Paris Club Refunds and current status of salary payments in Abia State:
