The Osun State Chapter of Hope Democratic Party (HDP) as commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) for the smooth conduct of the local government elections in the state.
Mr. Wole Adedoyin, Osun State Chairman of HDP made the commendation on Sunday shortly after witnessing the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected councilors in the state.”
“We are glad that the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola did in a year what PDP government did not do in seven years when they were ruling. And the fact that the conducted election was free and fair. The election was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and we must commend OSIEC for that.”
“The Party also hailed the electoral process adopted by OSIEC which entailed simultaneous accreditation and voting, which reduced the crowding of polling booths. The voting pattern adopted by OSIEC was also commended.”
“The actions and conducts of OSIEC, to the best of our knowledge, are so far guided by the State Electoral Laws.”
“The party noted that the process helped to make accreditation and voting easier, saying that it had also helped to compel the electorate to leave the voting Centre immediately after casting their votes.”
On the late arrival of materials at some polling units, OSIEC noted that it was due to the slow mobilization of security agents to the polling units.
Finally, the party noted that despite the late arrival of electoral materials at some polling units, the election was peaceful, as there was no report of intimidation or violence.
