Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has flagged off the upgrading and reconstruction of the Western Ahoada County Grammar School in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Performing the flag off on Friday, Governor Wike assured that the reconstruction will be completed on schedule and in line with the approved specifications.
He stated the funds for the rehabilitation of the the school have been set aside, adding that work will not be stopped till the reconstruction is completed.
The governor noted that the school will be revived and returned to a position to impact knowledge .
Governor Wike said: “We will complete the reconstruction of this school as pledged. We will bring up to the required standard.
“I am committed to keeping our promises to the Ekpeye kingdom. The funds for the rehabilitation of this school have been set aside”.
He charged the people of the Local Government Area to cooperate with the contractors for the early completion of the reconstruction.
Earlier, Commissioner of Education, Dr Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja said since 1957 when the school was built under the Eastern Government, it has not witnessed major rehabilitation.
He said the upgrade by Governor Wike will witness the construction of a new administrative block, hostels, new classrooms, science laboratories, agriculture and music laboratories.
He added the Water Reticulation Scheme of the school will be upgraded for the use of the staff and students.
Dr Felix Otuwarikpo, as Eze Igbu-Upata III, commended Governor Wike for keeping his promise to the people of Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Senator Representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Senator Osinakachukwu Ideozu thanked the governor for his commitment to the development of Ekpeye kingdom
